In the long history of architecture, before there were hotels and civic centers, stadiums and office buildings, there were homes. The residence is the fundamental, irreducible starting point of all architecture. And, needless to say, it remains as important today as it was thousands of years ago.

And today, the variety of personal residences is as broad as architecture itself. CDS International has been privileged to design just about every kind of housing imaginable, from affordable condominiums to luxurious private estates. Richard Balcom calls residential architecture the “noblest of building types.” Certainly, it is the mode of design that most deeply impacts the lives of its inhabitants.
