Furano Northstar Resort

Although the Nakafurano district of Hokkaido is most famous for its lavender season in late August and as a ski area in winter, the Furano Northstar Resort project was planned as a four season year-round resort to maximize the potential of its beautiful setting.

Activity radiates from three focal points of the 600 acre site. The Resort Center holds a commanding view of the town below and mountains to the east. The Market Center is placed nearby to encourage pedestrian travel between the two, and the Community Center is the “return to nature” portion of the development, nestled in the valley away from roads and more urban types of activities. The project includes hotels, pensiones, condominiums and log cabins, as well as restaurants and recreational facilities.
